Big night in Cholula

On the Saturday night we all tore it up in Cholula, Puebla's studenty 'suburb'. Pre-drinks were hosted kindly by Helen and Tom (not that I'm sure they were aware of this plan...) - classy rum & cokes and/or beers served up with homemade brownies (thanks Helen - they were amazing) and entertainment kindly provided by me and Matt attempting to demonstrate the dancemoves we learnt at the gym. We then moved on to Cholua, stopping first and foremost at some random taquería to satisfy our rumbling tummies. However, this was not just some 'random' taquería but possibly my favourite ever (though there is a good one in Córdoba that does incredible quesadillas and slow roasted baby onions but that's besides the point) because it had VEGETARIAN TACOS! Oh yeah. Finally I was able to join in the taco trend and it lived up to the hype I made about it. Peppers, mushrooms, tomato, onion, pineapple and cheese all melted together and scooped onto maize tortillas with a bit of lime and salsa. They were GOOD. And the fun did not stop there. Just a few doors down we found a really cool bar selling 10 peso shots (50p) and 30 peso cocktails (£1.50) so naturally, we stayed there for a fair few rounds. It had a really good atmosphere, good music and lots of random things on the walls. Including a poster of a nun showing her boobs which confused us all, and a sign informing people that it was strictly forbidden to be pendejos, but also lots of fairy lights and pretty things!

Moving on to the next bar (across the street) we had a good ol' boogie to cheesy classics like 'Hey Mickey' and 'Cant' Touch This' to which we obviously did the 'Little Miss Sunshine Dance'! So after a while dancing the night away, the club shut and we were moved on to the next. Here we had cheap cocktails that were like slush puppies and tasted of herbs and mangoes. Very strange. Pero lo bueno era que bailamos mucho salsaaa. Even though it had been aaages since I'd properly danced salsa, I really enjoyed myself, especially cos if the guy leads well, it's reasonably easy for the girl to follow. The salsa dancing took place on the roof bit of the club and downstairs it was normal club music, which was good cos when you got tired of one kind of dancing you could do the other :) I also saw there, and Matt chatted to, a guy who looked EXACTLY like how I imagine Dorian Gray to look, only he had black hair instead of blonde. However, nobody else knew what I was talking about until I later told Peter, whilst obviously emphasizing that it was not me but Matt trying to get with him, since I'm sure any guy would feel worried knowing their girlfriend was out with Dorian Gray haha. Anyway, eventually that club closed, so after standing outside in the FREEZING COLD for what seemed like an eternity at the time, we got in the back of some dude's truck and were taken 5 minutes down the road to some random bar/club place where we got bought drinks from some other guy who'd lived in the USA for ages. However, it wasn't that great and there was a big polava because one of the girls we were with realised she'd lost her bank card and got really upset and then had to sort it out. So we ended up just chatting amongst ourselves for ages waiting, and then finally, after a few more interesting antics I am not going to write about, we got a taxi home around 6am. What a night. When I get back I imagine it'll be very strange finishing the night at 3am... Mexico is definitely making me more hardcore haha.
