On the weekend of 23rd I went out with Matt and Benjo (a gastronomy teacher from UTCV). Both nights started in Chelacháchá and ended at Benjo's house. To be honest, Friday night and Saturday night were pretty much the same. After Chelacháchá we went to Roots bar where we had 'perla negras' - Jaegerbombs, and danced salsa and reggaeton, then went to the club - Utopia. There was a live band on both nights which played various popular hits including regatton and salsa but also English music which was cool. On Friday it wasn't very busy but there was a crazy drunken man dancing like a lunatic so I thought it would be fun to copy him. I love not knowing anyone in Mexico! The next day it was busier and I was having a great time but cos Benjo was driving and he wanted to go after like 30 minutes after being in each place haha. Back at his house he played us guitar and the xylophone and made us ridiculous amounts of food. "Let's keep eating! Let's keep eating!" he kept saying. He made us fried bread with nutella, jam and condensed milk. Wasn't the best combination. But then the proper Mexican food came out and he made us quesadillas with queso de oaxaca (my favourite favourite cheese) so by the time we went home at 5am we were sobering up already from all the food. What made me laugh though was that he was so excited about showing us all the food and got some weird chilli powder out for us and made us try it. As if that would happen in England! Everyone is so excited about food here it's great :)
